Roots and Ripples
The story behind Soul Solstice
Every story begins somewhere — mine began with the sea. From childhood, the water has been my constant teacher: playful, powerful, and humbling all at once. I’ve known its freedom and its fear, its stillness and its strength. Over time, it has taught me that healing doesn’t come from escaping what’s hard, but from learning to meet it — breath by breath, wave by wave. Soul Solstice was born from that understanding: a remembering of how deeply we belong to the elements, and how they can hold us when we learn to listen.
When I was a child, if anyone asked what I wanted to be when I grew up, my answer was simple — a mermaid. I spent every possible moment in the water, free, weightless, and alive. The sea felt like home.
But when I was young, I was caught in a riptide and dragged out to sea. That moment stayed with me — a reminder of both the sea’s power and her mystery. (If you’d like to read more about my connection to the water and how it shaped my path, you can find it in my blog post The Sea That Saved Me.)
I understand how frightening it can be to return to the water after a traumatic experience, but over time, through love, patience, and deep respect, the sea welcomed me back. She became my teacher — showing me that strength and surrender can coexist, and that healing often comes in waves.
For me, healing isn’t about striving to be fixed — it’s about remembering our wholeness. It’s the small, quiet acts of returning: to the breath, to the body, to the moment we’re in. I’ve learned that true transformation doesn’t need to be loud or dramatic; it often begins in silence, in stillness, in the gentle meeting of what is. My role through Soul Solstice is to hold that space — safely, slowly, and with presence — so that others can find their own way back to centre, guided by the rhythm of nature and their own inner tides.
That journey back to the water changed everything. What began as quiet swims for my own healing soon became moments of connection — with nature, with others, and with myself. I started to see how the elements held wisdom for everyone, not just me. The calm of cold water, the renewal of heat, the reflection offered by stillness — each became a way of remembering what it means to feel alive. From those moments, Soul Solstice was born: a space where others could also slow down, listen in, and find their own rhythm within the tide.
Alongside this work of holding space, I’m drawn to the gentle tools that help us listen more deeply — the ones that bring a little light to the path as we find our way. Over the years, I’ve deepened this practice through a blend of professional training, lived experience, and personal study. My learning spans both evidence-based wellbeing and the more intuitive arts — from cold-water therapy, first aid, and mental-health training, to studies in tarot, crystal healing, and circle facilitation.
I see these tools not as fixes or answers, but as invitations — ways to connect more deeply with what our intuition already knows. Whether it’s through the reflection of a card, the grounding of a crystal, the renewal of heat, or the calm of cold water, each practice offers its own form of guidance and release. Together, they shape the way I hold space: weaving safety, presence, and quiet magic into everything I do.
These teachings — and the incredible mentors I’ve been fortunate to learn from — continue to shape my work. Each represents another ripple in the ongoing journey of Soul Solstice: grounding intuition in safe, embodied practice.
